Castellammare del Golfo fu il principale porto delle città di Segesta ed Erice in età pre-ellenica. Oggi Castellammare è centro turistico balneare, favorito anche dalla vicinanza della Riserva Naturale Orientata dello Zingaro. Da vedere il Castello eretto a mo di fortezza dagli Arabi in periodo Medievale ed il Museo del Mare. Ogni anno(19-20-21 Agosto) vi si celebra la rievocazione storica dell'attacco al porto da parte degli Inglesi( 1718), sventato poi dall'arrivo della Madonna(Maria S.S.del Soccorso).
Castellammare del Golfo was the main harbour of the cities of Segesta and Erice in pre-ellenistic era. Nowadays, castellammare is a seaside resort, also thanks to the near “oriented Nature Reserve of Zingaro”. To visit: the Castle-Fortress built by Arabs in Middle-Ages and the Sea Museum. Every year on the 19th, 20th and 21st of August, there’s the celebration of the histic eviking of the attack to the harbour by English colinizers, who failed after the arrival of the Madonna (Saint Mary of Aid).
