Situata nella Valle del Belice, Gibellina fu completamente distrutta
dal terremoto del 1968 per poi essere ricostruita in una nuova
area completamente pianeggiante a pochi chilometri dall' antico
borgo.
La solidarietà di numerosi Artisti durante la ricostruzione
ha reso Gibellina un Museo a Cielo Aperto
date le numerose Opere disseminate in diversi punti del territorio;
all'ingresso della Città spicca la famosa Stella
di Pietra opera del maestro Pietro Consagra.
Di notevole interesse le Opere in Cemento
dell' Artista Alberto Burri presso i
Ruderi della vecchia Città.
It is placed in the Belice Valley. It was destroyed by an earthquake
in 1968 and then it was rebuilt in a new flat area, far few km
from the original place. The solidarity of many artists during
the reconstruction made Gimellina a sort of “plain air”
museum, thenks to the large number of works all over the town.
As a welcome, you can see the “Stella di pietra”by
Pietro Consagra. Very interesting are the cement works by Alberto
Burri in the ruins of the Old City.
